The 10th Lao Handicraft Festival opened in Vientiane yesterday at Lao-ITECC and this year's event features many Lao artists demonstrating the processes of creation for their products. Silk spinning, weaving, and sculpting were amongst some of the skills on display at the event which aims to to promote the skills of craftspeople form across Laos. The festival also provides an opportunity for producers, customers, buyers and sellers to meet and interact, and for craftspeople and exhibitors to learn about new designs, innovations and techniques that might be adapted to improve the quality of their products. If you were interested to come see how Laos artisans make their handicrafts in Lao PDR then head down to Lao-ITECC and watch for yourself. On display are textile products, handicrafts made of waste materials such as wood and metal, pottery, traditional food and agricultural products including mulberries and silkworms, and non-forest products like handmade bamboo and rattan items. The festival runs from October 19-23 and brisk sales are anticipated.
